About Heart of the Blue Ridge Sangha*
“Peace is all around us — in the world and nature — and within us — in our bodies and our spirits. Once we learn to touch this peace, we will be healed and transformed. It is not a matter of faith; it is a matter of practice.”
~Thich Nhat Hanh
Who we are…
We are a community of practitioners inspired by the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, who come together to meditate and share the practices of mindful living. The practice encourages us to bring mindful awareness to all aspects of our lives, so that we may deeply understand the interdependence that connects us to each other and to the world. Our backgrounds are diverse. Some have been practicing for years, others are quite new to the practice. We all come together with the intention of creating harmony, happiness, and insight in ourselves, our families, and our society.
Practicing with Heart of the Blue Ridge Sangha…
Our regular practice includes a weekly sitting each Sunday morning, from 9:20 until 10:40 a.m. and an evening meeting on the Third Thursday of each month (see calendar page). We are always happy to welcome newcomers. Each one of us brings our unique practice and life experiences to the Sangha, and our diversity of interests and perspectives enriches us. Basic meditation instruction and introduction to the mindfulness practices may be scheduled (see contact information below).
