Who we are…We are a community of mindfulness practitioners who come together to meditate and share the practices of mindful living. Mindfulness is our capacity to be present in our own lives, to be more fully aware of what we are doing as we are doing it. As we develop our awareness, an inner stillness naturally grows, lowering our fear and calming our anxiety. Our community comes together to practice mindfulness in order to take care of ourselves, nourish happiness, and contribute to building a healthier and more compassionate society.
What we do…We aspire to be a place of refuge, nourishment, and support. We gather weekly to practice sitting and walking meditation, listen to a teaching, and listen deeply to one another. We also organize Days of Practice at least twice per year, Mindful Families & Friends meetings, and other special events.
Practicing mindfulness with us…Our regular practice includes a weekly meeting each Sunday morning at EmPower Pilates & Yoga in Roanoke, Virginia, from 9:15 until 10:45 a.m. On Thursday evenings, the Blue Ridge Mindfulness Practice Group meets (when class is in session) at Ferrum College Stanley Library, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
You Can Do It…We are always happy to welcome newcomers. Each one of us brings our unique practice and life experiences, and our diversity of interests and perspectives enriches us. An introduction to our mindfulness practices may be scheduled. Just contact us for more information!
