Who we are…We come together to meditate and share the practices of mindful living. Mindfulness is our capacity to be truly present in our own lives, to be more fully aware of what we are doing as we are doing it. As we develop our awareness, an inner stillness naturally grows, lowering our fear and calming our anxiety. We practice mindfulness in order to take care of ourselves, to nourish happiness, and to build a more compassionate society.
What we do…We aspire to be a place of refuge, nourishment, and support. We practice sitting meditation and walking meditation, listen to a teaching, and listen deeply to one another. We also offer Days of Practice, Mindful Families & Friends meetings, Tea Meditation, Yoga for Meditators, Mindful Movement, Mindful eating meditation, Family hikes, and other special events.
Practicing mindfulness with us…Our regular practice includes a weekly meeting each Sunday morning at EmPower Pilates & Yoga in Roanoke, Virginia, from 9:15 until 10:45 a.m. On Thursday evenings beginning September 1st, the Blue Ridge Mindfulness Practice Group meets at Ferrum College Stanley Library room 205 from 7:00 to 7:45 pm on the 1st & 3rd Thursday. There is no fee for attending our meetings.
You Can Do It…We are always happy to welcome new friends and you do not need to have any previous meditation experience to join in and benefit from our practice. Each one of us brings our unique practice and life experiences, and our diversity of interests and perspectives enriches us. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about our meetings and help you get started with a meditation practice. Just contact us!
